Sir John Allison
John
has flown over 100 aircraft types as captain. He owns a Miles
Gemini and a Beechcraft Bonanza and displays historic aircraft
for Rolls Royce and for the Shuttleworth Collection, of which
he is a Director and Trustee.
He entered the Royal Air Force College Cranwell as a cadet
pilot in 1961 and in the course of 38 years in the RAF he
flew the Lightning, Phantom and Tornado operationally. His
final posting was as Commander-in-Chief Strike Command.
After
leaving the Service in 1999, he was appointed by the Home
Office to be a member of the Criminal Injuries Compensation
Appeals Panel, upon which he still serves. In May 2001 he
entered the world of Formula 1 as Director of Strategy, Premier
Performance Division, Ford Motor Company. Later he was appointed
Operations Director, Jaguar Racing Ltd. After a short period
with Rolls-Royce as Project Director, Bristol Site Development
Programme, he formed his own business, Armorial Executive
Development, offering coaching services to institutional and
business leaders.
He is President of the following aviation bodies: Europe
Air Sports, the Light Aircraft Association and the GA Alliance.
He and his wife Gill have five children and twelve grandchildren.
