| David Chisnall OBE
David was born in London and started his career through an
engineering apprentiship, after which he has spent 34 years
in industry serving the Fire & Rescue Services at home
and abroad, work that has involved extensive travel in this
ambassadorial role often speaking at meetings and conferences.
Through the leadership of his company it grew to become a
significant employer with a 3 fold increase in the number
of people employed. In 1995 David led a management buyout
of the company and subsequently floated it on the AIM stock
market in 2002 and assuming the role of Chief Executive.
Over a 17 year period David played a major part in the development
of technical standards for fire & rescue equipment as
the chair of national and European committees. And the respect
amongst his peers within the industry has assisted him in
one of his last roles as the founder chairman of the Fire
& Rescue Suppliers Association (Firesa) – an organisation
formed to be the voice of UK Fire Industry.
On the occasion of the Queens Birthday Honours in 2006 David’s
efforts were publically recognised when he was awarded the
OBE for ‘Services to the Fire Industry’.
His retirement from the Fire & Rescue industry has now
allowed him to pursue interests within aviation and after
gaining his helicopter PPL has advanced to acquire a Commercial
Pilots Licence. Through his company DCC Aviation he has ownership
of G-ODCC, .... a Bell Longranger Helicopter. David lives
with his wife Mary in Langley, Hampshire.
