fly2help Are Delighted to Announce the Recruitment of Our First Two Patrons
fly2help are honoured to have the support of Geoffrey Wellum DFC and aviation artist Mandy Shepherd as Patrons of the charity; both of whom bring tremendous experience, knowledge and credibility to our work.
Squadron Leader Geoffrey Wellum DFC
In August 1939, aged just eighteen, Geoffrey signed up with the Royal Air Force, just a few weeks before the
war was declared. He saw extensive action as a Spitfire pilot in the Battle of Britain and 50 years later
became the author of 'First Light' - an evocative and completely absorbing memoir of his experiences as a
fighter pilot. Geoffrey will be an inspiration to all who come through our doors.

Mandy is an artist whose work is known for its remarkable attention to detail. Traditionally a painter of
wildlife, Mandy has recently moved into the world of aviation art and has frequently been commissioned by the
Armed Forces to capture a variety of military activities. Mandy has most generously supported fly2help since
early 2009 having donated a number of incredible and unique paintings for our fundraising events.
