They Did It! - Our Congratulations & Thanks to Smithy and Clare!
The
summit, Uhuru Peak, stands 5895m AMSL, where the oxygen is
half what it is at sea level! On summit day, over a 24 hour
period we climbed the equivalent of a Ben Nevis (half of the
oxygen) and descended the equivalent of a 2 Snowdons and a
Ben Nevis, all on 2-3 hours sleep! Every step we took at this
altitude required every little bit of out hearts, bodies and
souls to get there... we both had to dig deep to make it.
Despite 4 days of lovely daylight trekking, we then faced an 8 hour steep ascent up to the summit starting at midnight in snow and strong winds. We didn't get the promised views, but we certainly achieved what we set out to do - that is to fly the flag for fly2help. Please continue to support our recent challenge by donating as much as you can to fly2help so they can continue to bring smiles to the faces of those who need it most!
