House of Commons Spitfire Gala Dinner - 25th November 2009
The team at fly2help
would like to say an enormous and heartfelt thank you to those
who so generously supported the fly2help
dinner at the House of Commons last month.
The setting was superb, and what better way to raise money for our aviation charity than by celebrating the inimitable Spitfire.
We were honoured to be joined by veterans Peter Ayerst and Geoffrey Wellum - author of 'First Light', as well as our guest speaker, the world renowned Fleet Air Arm Test Pilot, Captain Eric 'Winkle' Brown; who amused and enthralled the audience for 20 minutes with tales of flying the glorious Spitfire.
The evening was topped off with an exciting aviation themed
auction, with Lots that deservedly caused many to dig deep.
Through ticket sales, the raffle and auction, the evening
raised a grand total of £28,404 for fly2help.
This amazing total will help us to support so many deserving
families who face personal tragedy and many difficulties each
day.
It is also our intention to provide a limited number of mini-scholarships to youngsters keen to pursue a career within the aerospace industry, but who otherwise might not have such opportunities.
Without support such as this we would struggle to meet our objectives; changing people's lives for the better through the medium of flight.
2010 is set to be a great year for fly2help as we aim to reach out and touch more lives than ever before. We are expanding the number of our air smiles days and this money will go directly to ensuring that we share even more blue skies, adventures and smiles with those who need them most!
Thank you to all those involved.
