YOUNG CARERS CHECK IN TO GLOUCESTERSHIRE AIRPORT FOR FESTIVE FUN
Gloucestershire Airport based charity, fly2help, organised a Christmas party for Gloucestershire Young Carers at the weekend and it was a Christmas Party with a difference.
The group of young carers aged between 8 and 11 spent a ‘behind-the scenes’ day at the airport where they pretended to be suitcases on the baggage carousels in the Arrivals Hall, then became a human aeroplane where they were marshalled across the taxiway to the airport fire station. Here they tried very hard to spray water over the naughty elf!
After a busy morning, the children, set off to the Flying Shack, where they were very surprised to see Santa’s grotto all set up but sadly no Santa.
Lunch was kindly provided by the team at the Flying Shack and followed by a selection of cakes provided by another one of Santa’s little helpers.
After lunch, the children were treated to a helicopter ride and flew around the airport to see if they could spot Father Christmas. They all had a great flight, but the excitement didn’t end there.
While they were flying, Father Christmas had returned to his grotto and had met up with Douglas Bear too!
With much excitement, presents were given out, snowballs were thrown, the children sang to the elves and helpers and more cakes were eaten.
It was a day full of smiles from all.
