| National Private Pilot's
License
The National Private Pilot's License (NPPL) is a recreational
pilots licence, allowing flight in a light aircraft in UK
air space. The course is a minimum of 32 hours plus flight
tests. Once issued the licence is valid for life, subject
to the revalidation requirements.
Medical Fitness For The NPPL
The aim of the National PPL is to devolve the regulation
of some recreational flying to the air sports organisation.
The licence itself is easier to obtain and easier to maintain
than the standard JAR PPL.
The National PPL medical declaration form available
from the CAA website is the document that needs signing.
This comes with notes for you, the pilot, and also for your
GP, who is asked to countersign your fitness declaration.
Generally speaking, if there is nothing in your medical history
which would stop you reaching the Driving and Vehicle Licensing
Agency (DVLA) Group 2 standard for professional driving, you
can obtain an unrestricted National PPL.
